Bootlin at Kernel Recipes 2024

Kernel Recipes 2024Just after the busy week of Open Source Summit Europe and Linux Plumbers in Vienna, the Kernel Recipes conference is starting in Paris, as it takes place on Sep 23-25.

With its single-track format, high-profile speakers, small audience and friendly atmosphere, Kernel Recipes is quite unique in the landscape of open-source conferences, and has therefore become very popular over the past 10 years.

This year again, Bootlin engineers are attending this event, with this year 5 of our engineers participating: Jérémie Dautheribes, Alexis Lothoré, Romain Gantois, Louis Chauvet and Bastien Curutchet.

Do not hesitate to get in touch with the Bootlin engineers at the event to discuss Linux kernel and/or embedded Linux topics!

Bootlin at Embedded Recipes and Kernel Recipes 2022, Paris

After 2 editions cancelled due to the pandemic, the famous Embedded Recipes and Kernel Recipes conferences are back: they will take place end of May and beginning of June in Paris!

Bootlin will be present at this event, with several engineers from the team participating:

We look forward to meeting you at this event! If you want to discuss business or career opportunities with Bootlin, do not hesitate to meet Paul, Michael, Kamel or Grégory during Embedded and/or Kernel Recipes!

Bootlin at Kernel Recipes 2019

Kernel Recipes has become over the past few years a well-known conference, with an interesting line-up of speakers and an audience limited to 100-150 attendees giving a particular atmosphere to this event. Bootlin engineers have regularly participated and gave several talks at Kernel Recipes or Embedded Recipes in previous editions (2013, 2016, 2017, 2018).

This year, Bootlin engineer Grégory Clement will participate to the 3 days of Kernel Recipes in Paris, on September 25-27. Do not hesitate to get in touch with Grégory during the event, to discuss Linux kernel development, embedded Linux, career or business opportunities with Bootlin.

Bootlin at Kernel Recipes 2018: speaking and attending

Kernel RecipesThe Kernel Recipes conference, to be held in Paris on September 26-28, has become over the years a very popular conference on kernel topics, with its atypical single-track format and limitation to 100 attendees. With this conference taking place in Paris, France, Bootlin engineers obviously never missed the chance to attend, and this year again, several of us will participate to the event.

Our engineers Grégory Clement, Mylène Josserand and Boris Brezillon will be attending. In addition, Grégory Clement will be giving a talk titled Overview of SD/eMMC, their high speed modes and Linux support, in which he will share his experience working on MMC support in the Linux kernel.

Do not hesitate to get in touch with us during Kernel Recipes to discuss Linux kernel development, consulting projects, and opportunities at Bootlin!

Back from Kernel Recipes: slides and videos

As we announced previously, we participated to the Embedded Recipes and Kernel Recipes conferences in September in Paris. Three people from Bootlin attended the event: Bootlin CEO Michael Opdenacker, and Bootlin engineers Mylène Josserand and Maxime Ripard.

The slides of all talks are available on the Embedded Recipes and Kernel Recipes conference websites. Youtube playlists are available for Embedded Recipes 2017 and Kernel Recipes 2017 as well.

Conclusion

With its special one track format, an attendance limited to 100 people, excellent choice of talks and nice social events, Kernel Recipes remains a very good conference that we really enjoyed. Embedded Recipes, which was in its first edition this year, followed the same principle, with the same success. We’re looking forward to attending next year editions, and hopefully contributing a few talks as well. See you all at Embedded and Kernel Recipes in 2018!

Bootlin at Embedded and Kernel Recipes 2017

Kernel RecipesEmbedded RecipesThe Kernel Recipes conference has become over the last few years a very interesting conference, with an original single track format and a limited number of attendees, which fosters communication and networking. Held in Paris, France, it is obviously a conference of choice for Bootlin engineers to attend and speak at. We participated to multiple editions, Bootlin engineer Maxime Ripard gave a talk at the 2014 edition, while Thomas Petazzoni gave a talk at the 2013 edition.

In 2017, the organizers decided to complement the 3-day Kernel Recipes conference with a 1-day Embedded Recipes event, and Bootlin will participate by having two engineers attend those events and give talks:

If you’re interested in attending one of those events, make sure to register on time, there are only 100 seats available!

Bootlin at the Kernel Recipes conference

Kernel RecipesThe 2016 edition of the Kernel Recipes conference will take place from September 28th to 30th in Paris. With talks from kernel developers Jonathan Corbet, Greg Kroah-Hartmann, Daniel Vetter, Laurent Pinchart, Tejun Heo, Steven Rosdedt, Kevin Hilman, Hans Verkuil and many others, the schedule looks definitely very appealing, and indeed the event is now full.

Thomas Petazzoni, Bootlin CTO, will be attending this event. If you’re interested in discussing business or career opportunities with Bootlin, this event will be a great place to meet together.

Videos of XDC2014 and Kernel Recipes 2014

Recently, two interesting conferences took place in France: the X.org developer conference (in Bordeaux, October 8th-10th) and the Kernel Recipes conference (in Paris, September 25th-26th).

Both conferences have now published videos and slides of the different talks:

  • for the XDC 2014 conference, they are available in the program page
  • for the Kernel Recipes conference, they are available from the schedule page

It also means that the video of the talk given by Bootlin engineer Maxime Ripard about the support for Allwinner processors in the kernel is now available: video, slides.

Bootlin at Kernel Recipes, September 2013, Paris

Kernel Recipes conference logoFor the second year, a company called Hupstream, located in Paris, is organizing in France a conference fully dedicated to kernel development: Kernel Recipes (French), on September 24th and 25th.

While we at Bootlin couldn’t participate to last year edition, it looked like a very interesting conference, with both useful talks and an audience grouping a significant number of kernel developers and companies interested in kernel development in France. So this year, we are very happy to participate to this conference:

We are definitely looking forward to meeting some of the French kernel developers we have been in contact with over the last months (see the list of participants). It is also worth mentioning that Bootlin has an open position for a kernel or embedded Linux engineer, and that this conference is a great opportunity to meet us!
