FOSDEM being the biggest and most exciting open-source conference in Europe, it is a must-go every year for a large number of open-source developers, including engineers at Bootlin, and the upcoming 2026 edition on Jan 31 and Feb 1 will be no exception.
Indeed, no less than 9 Bootlin engineers will be attending: Luca Ceresoli, Louis Chauvet, Jérémie Dautheribes, Thomas Perrot, Thomas Petazzoni, Mathieu Dubois-Briand, Alexis Lothoré, Benjamin Robin, Hervé Codina, Benjamin Robin.
We’re not just attending FOSDEM, we’re also contributing to it, and participating to co-located events:
- Bootlin engineers will be giving 3 talks: Alexis Lothoré will give a talk titled From C to Rust on the ESP32: A Developer’s Journey into no_std, Benjamin Robin will present sbom-cve-check: Lightweight open-source CVE analysis tool for your embedded systems, and Thomas Petazzoni will present Snagboot: vendor-agnostic, open-source and developer-friendly recovery and reflashing tool
- Bootlin engineer Luca Ceresoli has contributed by being a member of the program committee for the Embedded, Mobile and Automotive devroom
- Bootlin engineer Mathieu Dubois-Briand, who is a core member of the Yocto SWAT team will be attending the OpenEmbedded Workshop 2026 on Feb 2 after FOSDEM
- Bootlin engineers Thomas Petazzoni, a co-maintainer of Buildroot, will be attending the Buildroot Developers Days, the Buildroot project hackathon that takes place on Feb 2, 3, 4, after FOSDEM
