One week after the end of the Embedded Linux Conference Europe 2011, we are pleased to release the videos of all talks that took place during this event. We would like to thank the Linux Foundation for allowing us to record those talks and to share freely the resulting videos on-line, and also thank the Clarion Congress Hotel technical staff for helping us with technical details related to video recording.
Below, you’ll find 51 videos, in both a 1920×1080 HD format and a reduced 800×450 format. In total, it represents 28 GB of video, for a duration of 2214 minutes, that is more of 36 hours of video. We hope that you will enjoy those videos and that these will be useful to those who couldn’t attend the conference.

I’ll never thank you enough for the outstanding effort you put in helping to share the knowledge from the Linux conferences. The videos are great quality (content and presentation), the slides when available are a huge plus, and I always wait for your publications like if it were a new must-read book just coming out.
So again, thank you a million Bootlin. Your commitment to Embedded Linux world is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the videos.
Have I overlooked it or is the video from the keynote
Linux for In-Car Infotainment, Matt Jones, Jaguar Land Rover
missing?
This video has been taped by Satoru Ueda, who sent us the raw file a few days ago, so the video of this conference should show up in the coming days/weeks on our website as well.
Any news on this?
I don’t have news personally, I will check with the person in charge of this video.
I’ve kind of fixed the sound for elce-2011-gallo-kernel-alignement-snowball.webm HD.
If you want you can find it there for now
(LINK BROKEN NOW)
Thanks a lot for the videos.
Ah, nice ! Could you share the details on how you did that ? We might be interested for encoding our future videos.
1/ extract audio (ffmpeg)
2/ (audacity) level the usually few saturating artifacts, then use the noise filter, then normalize. Export the track.
3/ rebuild webm using the new audio track (ffmpeg)
I just did it very quikly for me as this video have very bad sound but you can do far better by adjusting the settings, default noise filter is pretty agressive. If you’re interested just search info about audacity and enhancing sound extracted from audio tape.
Do you have a way of making this scriptable ? Because when we have 51 videos to encode, we definitely don’t want to have manual steps involved.
It’s not scriptable with audacity because of the step where you need to manually select an audio part with only noise. I think you have this problem with all audio software but I’m not 100% sure.
Hi again,
thanks for such a great job and material provided.
I just was wondering if this year Chris Simmond’s tutorial about Embedded Linux has taken place during the ELCE like it did last year.
Thanks in advance for your comments.
Yes, this tutorial took place (link to tutorials no longer available)
Thanks for the videos.
I’ve uploaded some in Youtube to make them more accessible, I hope that’s OK.
Thanks a lot guys. I have been a GNU/Linux keen supporter since the early days (since at least 1993): ELCE 2011 was simply great! YOU ROCK! THANKS!
What about Chris Mason’s talk on BTRFS?
Chris Mason’s talk on BTRFS took place inside the LinuxCon Europe event. And unfortunately, the Linux Foundation didn’t record the talks from this event, and Bootlin didn’t had enough hardware and people to record both the talks from the Embedded Linux Conference Europe and from LinuxCon Europe. So, sadly, I don’t think there is any recording from Chris Mason’s talk.
The slides to Arnd Bergmann’s talk (Optimizations for Cheap Flash Media) appear to be available from here:

your videos and slides are extremely helpful.thanks for the videos and slides.
