Paul Louvel

Paul LouvelPaul Louvel joined Bootlin in February 2026 as an Embedded Linux Engineer. Previously, he did his apprenticeship at IDEMIA on SIM card technology projects, implementing the (D)TLS protocol in a smart card operating system.

He graduated from École 42 in October 2025. During his studies, he focused on low-level computing projects ranging from kernel and emulator development to binary exploitation and malware research. He was a member of 42 Chips, the embedded systems laboratory at his school.

Eager to share his knowledge, he maintains a personal blog covering a wide range of topics including software engineering, malware analysis, reverse engineering, and hardware.

At Bootlin, Paul contributed to the development and customization of Linux BSPs targeting x86-based Intel platforms, PowerPC, and ARM-based NXP platforms, using both Yocto and Buildroot.

He is also contributing to the Linux kernel, developping and making changes to various drivers using different subsystems, including GPIO, IRQ, and crypto.
