Benoît Monin is an embedded Linux engineer with over 20 years of experience in industrial computing. He has worked extensively on embedded systems across a range of industries, including transportation, aerospace, and telecommunications. Benoît has led numerous projects involving the development and porting of embedded Linux systems, with expertise in bootloaders, device drivers, and communication interfaces. Benoît joined Bootlin in 2025.
Prior to joining Bootlin, for over a decade, he supported Alstom Transport on embedded systems used in train communication and signaling, including Linux porting, hardware integration on ARM platforms, and R&D on 5G train-to-ground communication. His past experience also includes work for Airbus on measurement and noise analysis systems, and for JDSU on high-speed communication test equipment using PowerPC.
Benoît is highly proficient in C programming, shell scripting, and Python, with deep knowledge of embedded Linux development tools such as Buildroot and OpenEmbedded. He is also experienced with version control systems (Git, Subversion), Linux networking, and driver development.
A graduate of CPE Lyon with a specialization in distributed computing systems, Benoît contributes to OpenStreetMap and the openSUSE project.
