Benjamin Robin

Benjamin Robin Benjamin Robin graduated in 2011 from CPE Lyon with a specialization in Electronic Architecture and Microelectronics. In 2025, he joined Bootlin’s Oullins office as an Embedded Linux engineer.

Before joining Bootlin, Benjamin worked at Centum T&S, where he held roles as both an embedded software engineer and an embedded Linux engineer starting in 2011. Over the years, he gained extensive experience across a wide range of industries, including transportation, aerospace, automotive, medical, and defense.

Benjamin has primarily worked on ARM platforms for industrial customers, always with a strong focus on low-level development close to the hardware. His expertise spans from embedded Linux system development to critical bare-metal software on constrained platforms such as ARM Cortex-M (e.g., STM32). On more capable ARM Cortex-M, he has worked with real-time operating systems like FreeRTOS and networking stacks such as LwIP.

He has developed significant expertise in building custom BSP layers using Yocto for projects involving various frameworks, including Qt. His customization efforts have focused on various aspects, such as MAC address management, Ethernet throughput performance optimization, secure boot, boot time reduction, and the integration of over-the-air (OTA) update mechanisms with RAUC.

Benjamin also has experience developing Linux drivers for customer-specific hardware, including a SONAR system, which is a signal acquisition FPGA connected to an internal ARM SoC AXI bus. His platform experience covers a wide spectrum, from Xilinx Zynq 7000, OMAP, and TI Sitara processors, to i.MX SoCs, Marvell OCTEON SoCs, and even some experience with x86-based SoCs such as Intel Atom and AMD G-Series Embedded processors.

Beyond his professional work, Benjamin contributes to various open source projects, fixing bugs and implementing enhancements to improve functionality. He is highly proficient in C programming and ARMv7 assembly, and he is deeply passionate about Linux and open source technologies. He also actively supports the French-speaking Arch Linux community.

Benjamin is based at Bootlin’s Lyon office.
