Olivier joined Bootlin as a cybersecurity expert and embedded Linux engineer in 2024. Olivier has been working as a security expert since 2012. First at security R&D firm Quarkslab doing embedded device security assessment, then for the french Ministry of Defense reverse engineering security implementation in embedded devices, searching for vulnerabilities and developing proofs of concept. He then joined AWS at Amazon, going through various security roles including incident response as well as looking into security vulnerabilities of concern for the hypervisor and kernel layers of EC2.
Olivier is passionate about Linux and Open Source, and is a contributor to the UBPorts project, looking specifically at the Pine64 native port.
Security experience
Olivier has experience on both sides of the security fence, having done offensive security research as well as having been responsible for the security posture of the larger AWS organization, and more specifically for the EC2 hypervisor infrastructure. He has reverse engineered software on x86, MIPS and ARM platforms, and contributed to several Xen Security Advisories (XSAs) as well as the upstreaming of their fix.
