The class was certainly extensive. I had hoped that it would make yocto seem simpler, somehow, but I don't really think that's possible after the class :) It's just a complicated system.
3
I don't think it's possible to provide the coverage of the product that's required with any shorter of a class.
5
The labs give just the right amount of information. They're not just a cookbook where you can copy/paste everything.

Thanks so much Alex. This was a very well done course.

I was coming in fresh with no prior knowledge, and this provided me with a huge jumpstart into learning how to properly use the yocto build system.

I will definitely be saving the slides to reference in the future. Very helpful!

Great explanations of the items covered. Preemptively answered many questions that I had, before I even had a chance to ask them.

Definitely interesting, but a little quick for me, as I had practically no prior knowledge of embedded development. But I would say that was more of a function of me being less than prepared for a class of this level, rather than the course/instructor.
2
See response above. I wouldn't say I am a good representation of a usual attendee for this level of course material.

Very quickly learned a TON of great information that should help me navigate our company's linux build environment, and more importantly I now have a GREAT set of troubleshooting / diagnostic tools to help understand and fix any issues I may come across.
3
Embedded programming isn't part of my usual duties, but I do have a need to add some applications into our embedded products runtimes on occasion.

Me personally, I probably learned more than I need to for my position, but I would highly recommend this course to any interested in using the Yocto build system.

Great background, would have liked more examples showing how to add userland software packages that have more complexity than ninvaders.
2
Alex's passion for the project was great and made me want to continue learning
4
The lab document would be more complete if it had finished examples. Was difficult to follow along after the class.
5
Alex was on top of it and knew when to say "I don't know but I'll find out".
5
Really valued Alex's insight.
4
Demos were completed pretty quickly so I had a hard time following along on my own. This, combined with the documents not having the final output, made it difficult to keep up.
2
Would have loved more time dedicated to demos.
5
4 4 hour days was a nice setup. I felt pretty knowledge-saturated at the end of each session

I use bitbake to make images including software packages I write. I enjoyed the deep dive with yocto stuff, but it's not my day-to-day.
8
A demo packet that allows the demos to be completed in a vacuum would have been great and helped me keep up a bit better. Otherwise excellent.
